HEAD COACH
ERIK CALDWELL
Erik Caldwell is the Head Coach of the Marina Surf Team, a position he has proudly held for the past four years. Coach Caldwell is passionate about working with surfers of all levels, helping them build their skills and confidence out in the water. Whether you’ve been surfing for years or are new to the sport, the Marina Surf Team offers an excellent training program to develop your skills and passion for surfing. Coach Caldwell also serves as the Activities Director at Marina, overseeing ASB, and teaches Video Game Design in the Career Technical Education Department. A SoCal native and lifelong surfer, Coach Caldwell is dedicated to fostering well-rounded, healthy, and engaged students at Marina.

YAGO RAMOS VAZ
Yago Ramos Vaz is the assistant coach of the Marina Surf Team, and he is now in his second year with the Marina Surf Family. Originally from Brazil, Coach Yago has been surfing for 17 years and spent five summers as a lifeguard. A competitive surfer since age 12, he moved to the United States in 2020 and is currently competing in the Qualifying Series for the World Surf League (WSL). A Huntington Beach Board Riders Club member, Coach Yago enjoys helping surfers improve their skills while ensuring they have fun and learn together.

Ashley Reyes
Assistant Coach Ashley Reyes, a Marina High Surf Team alumni, brings a unique perspective and invaluable experience to the coaching staff. Her deep understanding of the team’s dynamics and her passion for the sport makes her a trusted mentor.
